Dior Homme Intense is a masterclass in iris: creamy, faintly cosmetic, almost like lipstick and expensive suiting. Lavender opens, vanilla and cedar close, and the whole thing lasts on skin for the better part of a day.
It is unapologetically formal and leans mature. Superb for weddings, black tie and winter evenings; too rich for summer. Note that Dior reformulated the line in 2020 — the older versions are drier and more iris-forward, and are worth seeking out.
Best for: Black tie, weddings and winter formality.
The opening — what you smell in the first fifteen minutes.
The core character, emerging after roughly half an hour.
The dry-down that lingers on skin and fabric.
Dior Homme Intense suits weddings & special events, date night and office & work. Its bold intensity means one or two sprays is genuinely enough — this is a fragrance that rewards restraint.
Expect roughly 9-12 hours on skin with strong projection. Longevity drops in high heat and humidity, so Queensland and Northern Territory wearers should plan for the lower end of that range. Spraying one of your applications onto clothing rather than skin extends it considerably.
It performs best in autumn and winter. It is not our pick for a hot Australian summer — the composition becomes heavier as temperatures rise, so keep it for the cooler months.
It is marketed for men, but fragrance has no rules — the floral character means plenty of people outside that marketing category wear it happily.
Approximately $150 - $200 (100ml) at Australian retail. Designer fragrance is discounted almost continuously, so compare pharmacy chains, duty-free and online marketplaces before paying full department-store price.
