Black Opium is a coffee-vanilla gourmand with a sparkling pink-pepper opening and a sweet, slightly boozy heart. It is energetic rather than sultry, which separated it from the heavier ambers it replaced on shelves.
Best from April to September; in summer the coffee accord can become sticky. There are many flankers — Extreme is spicier, Nuit Blanche is softer, Le Parfum is richer. The original remains the reference and is heavily promoted in Australian department stores.
